Materials and Construction
STR systems were built with care using quality materials for efficiency, safety, and longevity. The reactor vessels are made of stainless steel (304 or 316L) and are very resistant to corrosion, withstand high heat, and are also hygienic. For high temperature applications or highly aggressive chemicals, the reactor can even be built with Hastelloy or titanium for chemical resistance and enhancement of life expectancy.
The inner surface of the STR body is smooth without any sharp edges, seams, or rough areas, which simplifies cleaning and maintenance of the reactor. There are specialty coatings provided by us for more specific applications such as Teflon lining where there are likely to be very aggressive chemicals and glass lining as an extra protection and for easy observation.
Key Features
There are different stirred tank reactors tanks which have different default features and allow some of them to be customized depending on the industry and the processes. The following are examples of the key features:
Agitator Types
For the different tanks, there are available turbines agitators, propeller agitator, anchor and paddle, each of which is used based on the characteristics of fluids, the viscosity, and the requirement of mixing.
Heating and Cooling Systems
There are two designs available, which is the external jacket or internal coil design. Our reactors possess the precise temperature of steam, oil or electrical heating. This facilitates the optimum temperature for the reaction.
Pressure and Vacuum Options
The operating pressure for the reactors is atmospheric pressure, and also devices are made that can withstand up to several bars of pressure. The reactors could also depend on the process design under which they are being used.
Automated Control Systems
In regard to advancing technology, we have designed no features of our own. Additionally, we have provided an automated control system that provides monitoring and controlling of the most effective variables, temperature, agitation speed, pressure, or more to achieve the set reaction.
Sizes
The maximum volume is 30000 liters. The mixing tank reactor can be customized and has a minimum volume of 100 liters, which is suitable for small-scale research and development projects or large-scale production in factories.
Applications
Stirred tank reactors tend to be preferred in different industries owing to their mixing and thermal control performance. Some of these applications are:
Pharmaceuticals
This is ideal for drug formulation, chemical synthesis, or fermentation processes. STRs provide appropriate conditions for drug synthesis, where temperature and degree of agitation have to be tightly regulated.
Chemical Production
In batch and continuous processes such as polymerization, oxidation, and chlorination, stirred tank reactors improve the mixing of reactants and the rate of reactions.
Food Processing
STRs are involved in the production of dairy products, sauces, and syrups by playing the role of mixing the components externally, making sure heat is evenly spread in the products as well as controlling the quality of the product.
Biotechnology
STRs play an important role in the fermentation processes for the production of antibiotics, enzymes, and biofuels. STRs assist in mixing and aeration of microorganisms for growth and transformation of the chemicals so that the bioprocess can take place.
Cosmetics
STRs help in the production of cosmetic products like creams and lotions in a way that ensures all the ingredients are well mixed, therefore the quality of the final product is maintained.
Frequently Asked Questions
1. How do I know what size of stirred tank reactor will work for my process?
It all comes down to the Reactor Scale-Up procedure. The demand is based on how precisely or accurately the scale was set. We have a wide range of 100L to 30000L in our offered range. Contact our team for help in determining the right capacity based on your output level and the type of process.
2. Is the reactor suitable for batch as well as continuous processes?
Yes, our stirred tank reactors can accept both kinds of operations, batch wise or continuous flow, and therefore can offer a diverse application in many industrial processes.
3. Which materials should I select for my reactor?
The material selection is based on the type of chemicals and the condition in which our customers work. Thus, mild to normal applications can use Stainless Steel. However, if the combination is murkier, we have offered materials like Hastelloy or Titanium.
4. Is it possible to modify the agitator for more efficient mixing?
For sure! We have created designs for various types of agitators such as turbine, propeller, or anchor design to meet the need for complex mixing. You will be closely working with our engineers, who will make sure for you the selection of the right agitator.
5. What measures are put in place to maintain temperature within the reactor’s parameters?
Our reactors are fitted with various options for heating and cooling, which may be through a jacket or coil embedded within the reactor. These jackets or coils may receive hot oil, steam, or electric supply. Further, the temperature required during the course of the reaction can also be controlled automatically.
6. Is it possible to use these reactors in processes requiring high pressure?
Yes, the reactors we manufacture are able to withstand high pressure as well as vacuum. Based on your process requirements, we will even be able to manufacture the reactor capable of handling the pressure you require.
Customization and Service
In our company, we provide fully customized stirred tank reactors to our customers which will satisfy the wants of our clients. For example, the selection of the right material and type of agitator as well as the heating and the cooling systems will all depend on what the client wants. From a 100-litre reactor necessary for laboratory use to a 30,000-litre reactor meant for large industrial production plants, we are prepared for anything.
Further, many of our clients require additional services after they have made a purchase, for example, support for precise installation, guidance for the end-users, and regular service packages for the reactor’s purpose.
